This is the story of legendary UConn football player Dave DeArmas. He started as a redshirt freshmen at the University of Maryland before a combination of a coaching change and his major being discontinued, helped him decide to transfer.

An assistant coach at Maryland was now at UConn and he gave him a call, the rest is history. Coach Tom Jackson put him in to hit a 43 yard field goal, he nailed it, and never looked back. Playing for 4 different head coaches, Skip Holz came to UConn and Dave felt something special happening. In his senior year, 1995, he kicked 3 game winning field goals for the first time in his career.

An amazing kicker who was the first Husky to play in the Blue/Shrine game and Senior Bowl, he also went to the NFL combine. Dave attended NFL camps before working in IT for the Department of Defense. He now is a principal, athletic director and high school football coach. He is having quadruple bypass surgery soon and everyone please wish him well in his recovery. Dave is a great guy and mentoring kids the right way, we wish him the best!
