UConn former football player Graig Vicidomino joins the show and was a blast to talk with. He shares an unbelievable story; you must listen to such an unlikely journey.
Graig played soccer until his junior year of high school at East Haven, CT before being recruited by the football coach to try out to be their kicker. Well, his pitch worked, and Graig won the job. He played on state championship teams and holds the East Haven record for longest field goal.
Originally, he was committed to play at Sacred Heart University. As I always say, when life gives you lemons.... well, you know the rest. A spot opened at UConn at the end of July and Graig accepted. Talk about a change of events!
The life of a kicker is extremely challenging, and Graig became close with starter, as well as avid Husky Talk supporter, Matt Nuzie. The pressure to perform, along with high expectations isn't always fair. Graig would replace Matt if he was struggling and made the most of those chances. He recalls an excellent game against Army and obviously being part of the first UConn team to go to a bowl game.
I never met Graig before and instantly liked him very much. Definitely a high IQ guy who is much smarter than I could ever be, he majored in Human Resources before staying at UConn to attend business school.
He took a job with Alliant Insurance in New York City and he has built a tremendous career over 17 years. Now, he is a senior vice president with the company because of his brilliance and work ethic. Determination, desire, grit and being confident is how I would describe Graig. I admire his perseverance, and all of his success was DESERVED because he EARNED everything himself.

Michael Burton and his team have done an outstanding job raising NIL donations through Bleeding Blue For Good. We want to continue our success in all sports and bring in top talent each year.
Mike and his family changed the course of UConn History with the launch of the Burton-Shenkman Center opened in 2006. At the time, it was the FIRST indoor college football facility in the northeast. Mike works because he wants UConn to continue winning as we enter into the NIL era.
I played with Mike for a season, I couldn’t be prouder or respect a man more. An incredible son, sibling, with a dynamic business mind, a beautiful family and fiercely loyal. He always gives to UConn and defines bleeding blue.
It’s us against the world…. and I like our odds!
